Upgrade Sweater

About the pattern

The Upgrade Sweater is a kids’ raglan sweater. It is knitted top down with 2x2 ribbing and a folded neckline. The neckline is shaped with German short rows and has an elastic bind off for those little but big heads. The pattern contains thorough descriptions, pictures, diagrams and instructional videos on how to do the 2x2 Italian bind-off and the folded rib with an elastic bind-off. Note that mohair is sometimes not recommended for kids under 1y, so consider a non-mohair option for the smallest size or be mindful of the extent you use the sweater. Note that the dinosaur motifs shown in some of the sweater examples are made by combining this pattern with the compatible Stitch Me Up Sweater pattern. The dinosaur motifs are not included in this pattern.

2 strands of silk mohair of about 212 m / 25 g with the option of mixing with Kaos Yarn, Halo Brushed Alpaca (225 m / 25 g) (see example below). Estimated usage below is for the following number of colours to be blended: 4 (4) 4 (4) 5 (5) 5

For the sweater shown in this pattern I used colour 1: Permin, Angel in Light Blue/81, colour 2: Filcolana, Tilia in colour Fresia/353, colour 3: Sandnes, Tynn Silk Mohair in Lilac/5023, colour 4: Sandnes, Tynn Silk Mohair in Shocking Pink/4626 and colour 5: Kaos Yarn, Halo Brushed Alpaca in the colour Charismatic/2049.

Tip to choosing colours that blend well: Take a picture of the yarn combination you are considering and turn the colour saturation down so the picture is in grey tones. If the grey tone contrast is low, the colours will typically blend more smoothly. If you do pick colours with higher grey tone contrast, make sure their base and vibe is similar.

Gauge

22 sts x 33 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm in stockinette stitch. Recommended needles for this are 4.0 mm 40 and 60 cm circular needles.
