Oh Dear Collar

About the pattern
The collar is knitted back and forth in garter stitch and the tie cord is made by crocheting chain stitches. It's one size, but it can be made bigger either by knitting more rows or by choosing a looser gauge/bigger needles. If you want a bigger collar, you might need more than one ball of Teddy Dear. The fit of the collar is more rectangular compared to the usual rounded knitted collars. This fit makes it wearable both on sweaters, tops and blouses, but also on coats and jackets. Neckline circumference is adjustable by how tightly it's tied.
 
Measurements
Neckline circumference when tied all the way in: 40cm 
Length from neckline to edge: 11 cm 
Circumference along bottom edge: 98cm

Note: measurements above are obtained with correct gauge and pinning the collar flat while blocking.
 
Materials 
1 skein of Teddy Dear by Gepard Garn (75m/50g). Usage ~42g, not including swatch  
1 set of 5.5mm* 60cm circular needles. (*always check your gauge) 
1 crochet hook of approx. 3.5mm. 
1 tapestry needle  
4 stitch markers 
1 pair of scissors  
 
Gauge 
I used 5.5mm needles to get a gauge of 13.5 sts. x 27 rows = 10cm x 10cm in garter stitch. 

Recommendation: The sts. are a bit difficult to count in Teddy Dear, so I recommend that you make a swatch of 16sts and 30rows, wash it, pull it slightly in every direction and let it dry in a straight angle. Don’t make any special edge sts. Simply turn and knit from the other side. When it’s dry you measure width and length of the swatch and calculate gauge like this:
 
Number of sts = 16sts / (measured width in cm) x 10cm 
Number of rows = 30rows / (measured length in cm) x 10cm
